SMS provides universal reach — every phone can receive text messages, no app required.

Setup

SMS requires 10DLC (10-digit long code) registration, which takes a few days for carrier approval.

  1. In your Rentalot dashboard, go to Channels > SMS
  2. Fill in your business details (name, EIN, address)
  3. Click Submit for Approval
  4. Rentalot registers your brand and campaign with carriers
  5. Once approved (typically 3-5 business days), a phone number is provisioned automatically
  6. Your channel shows as Active and you can start receiving messages

Why 10DLC?

US carriers require 10DLC registration for application-to-person (A2P) messaging. Without it, messages get filtered or blocked. Rentalot handles the registration process for you.

Sharing Your Number

Once active, you get:

  • A phone number — prospects can text it directly
  • A QR code — opens the native SMS app with your number pre-filled

Tips

  • Submit business details accurately — mismatches cause registration rejections
  • You’ll receive an email notification when your number is approved
